Film Review: Killing Bono

Robert Sheehan and Ben Barnes shine in this eighties comedy that goes to the other side of rock and roll success, the failures.

That said, this isn't a tragedy. Its a comedy that manages to keep the mood light even when the two actors portraying brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick, are not even speaking to each other.

Pete Postlethwaite has a bit of fun in his small role as well, as the boys' landlord in London.

All in all, a fun film to watch and laugh at.

    This quote comes from another two films that is still an enjoyable comedy, despite the subject matter.

    “Bob Likely: [commentating] And Trojan evades Maston brilliantly.
    Bob: Pity he couldn't have done that the night he got nicked. [they laugh]”

It never ceases to amaze, that in this time of having so many trailers, tv spots, previews and the like, that when we finally do seem the film in all its glory, we are still able to enjoy it and rewatch it and its still a good film to watch. Article on Awards for Film & TV

Another Awards season has come and gone, and while they are enjoyable, some years more than others, for the most part it is merely a demonstration in movie politics. I.e. What is destined to win big, and what will never be nominated. Each year, I amuse myself by picking out who I think will win and also who I think should . Always a marked difference. This year, I got most of them right. Most notably, Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway for their awards in the "should" category and not so much, Daniel Day Lewis and the film Lincoln for production design, in the "will". My opinions on custom built films made solely for the winning of awards aside, I think there are a lot of films and TV shows that are, for reasons best left out of this, ignored completely. Film Review: The Legend of Tarzan

Given the vast majority of remakes, sequels, prequels and re-imagining of various stories, its easy to just pin it on the movie makers and claim they are losing the ability to make original stories, and ignore all the many original stories that are being released in various formats. But I've noticed an interesting trend. Film started early, the first ever feature length film was released in 1906. It was about the Australian bushranger, Ned Kelly. Since then, the films that have been remade and retold so many times since, Sherlock, Superman, hero films in general (Marvel very much continuing this trend especially) and yes, Tarzan, - topping the list - are stories about characters, who, among other things, are people with amazing and unique gifts, that, more often than not, are used to help others .
